Huskies lose Nail Bitter to X-Men

The nationally ranked Saint Francis Xavier X-Men travelled to Halifax and survived a gritty effort from the Saint Mary's Huskies to win 93-90 on Tuesday night in another classic installment of a rivalry that had the Tower jumping.

Jeremy Dunn (Wolfville, N.S. ) led all scorers with 35 points and was a perfect 10 for 10 from the line to pace the X-Men. Terry Thomas (East Preston, N.S.) added 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals for St FX who leapfrogged UPEI into first place in the AUS conference with the victory.

The Huskies led the see saw affair 66-63 after three quarters but struggled from the free throw line, converting only 6 of 15 attempts.

Harry Ezenibe (Igbo-Ukwu, Nigeria) had a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds while Miguel Pink ( Whitby, Ont.) made 6 three pointers to finish with 18 points to pace Saint Mary's.

The X-Men (5-0, 14 pts) are set to begin the holiday break while the Huskies (2-4, 6 pts) will travel to Sydney to finish off the term versus the Cape Breton Capers this Friday, December 2nd 'at 6:00.
