Head Coach, Chris Larade, is proud to announce four top recruits to his team for the 2011/12 season. The Huskies graduated nine players last season, which make for a huge recruiting year for the new coach. A breakdown on the new players are as follows:
Bria Sharkey (G), Nainamo, B.C.
• 5’6”, 145 lbs
• Played with OHA in Penticton, B.C.
• 85 average, will study psychology
• 16-8-2 with a 2.50 GAA last year
Bria will be a key contributor for us from the moment she arrives. Her love for the game and commitment to fitness make her an exemplary high performance athlete. She moves well and is technically sound. She loves to challenge the shooter and really battles between the pipes.
Katie Edgecombe (F), Marystown, Nfld.
• 5’8”, 135 lbs
• Played at OHA in Corwall, ONT.
• 85 average, will study sciences
Katie is a strong player who loves going to the dirty areas of the rink and engaging in puck battles. She protects the puck well, has a good shot and skates well. Her dedication to off-ice fitness is really outstanding and a testament to the kind of quality person she is.
Holly Cortilet (D), Landmark, Man.
• 5’3”, 130lbs
• Played with Eastman Selects Midget AAA
• Had 32 points, 38 PIMS and was a +10 in 54 games playing defense last year
• 80 average, will study psychology
Holly comes from a very strong midget program in Manitoba. She is a smooth skating, puck moving D. She plays much bigger and tougher than her frame would suggest and has good leadership qualities. Her shot and puck skills will be a great asset for our program moving forward.
Jenelle Rogers (F), Creston South, Nfld.
• 5’2”, 112 lbs
• Played at Warner College in ALB
• Honors student…will student sciences
• Played on NFLD CWG team
Jenelle has good intangible qualities and is complete two-way player with great vision and puck skills. She comes from playing in a very strong western league at Warner.
