ANDREW HOTHAM & KORI CHEVERIE NAMED SMU’S TOP ATHLETES

The Department of Athletics & Recreation is pleased to announce the 2009/10 Major Award recipients. Kori Cheverie (Women’s Hockey) and Andrew Hotham were named Female and Male Athlete of the Year.

In her fifth and final year, Cheverie received an AUS All-Star, and was named the tournament MVP of the AUS Playoffs and was a member of the AUS tournament All-Star. She led her team with goals, tied for the number 3 spot in the conference and was fifth in the CIS in goals scored.

Andrew Hotham, a 3rd defensemen with the Huskies was recently crowned the MVP of the University Cup where the Huskies won their first national championship. For the 2nd year, Hotham led the CIS in defensemen scoring and received a 1st team All-Canadian nod. He tied with 3 other teammates with 14 points in the AUS playoffs, and added 5 in the national tournament in Thunder Bay.

Student Therapist Award – Ashley Merrithew, Hockey & Jessie Dalton, Football
Outstanding Community Volunteer – Chris Valardo
