Saint Mary’s Huskies women’s volleyball is pleased to announce that Laurel O’Bright has committed to the Huskies line up for 2011-2012.

O’Bright, a 5’11 setter, has been with the Ottawa Mavericks High Performance Volleyball Program since 2006. She has won two Under 18 provincial championships (2009 and 2010), a National Championship Division 1 Tier II bronze medal in 2010, and has represented her Region at the Ontario Summer Games in 2008. Having spent the last two years as the youngest player on her team, Laurel is enjoying the opportunity of working with the younger athletes in the High Performance Program this year.

“I am really excited to have Laurel join our Huskies family. Laurel is a top quality student-athlete who will make an immediate impact to our volleyball program. She is an extremely hard worker both on and off the court, and will ensure that our program keeps moving forward” commented Huskies Head Coach Darren Russell.

With a large number of family in the Halifax area, Laurel is very excited to be coming to Saint Mary’s and compete on the court as a Huskie.
