14 CIS athletes named to final list of attendees for 2010 indoor women's national team selection camp

WINNIPEG - Following the Open Camp that was held from May 2-4, the final list of athletes attending the 2010 National Women's Selection Camp has now been confirmed. The Official Selection Camp is being held from May 5-8 at the University of Manitoba. The complete schedule for the camp is outlined below.

Huskies defeat X-Women in straight sets to claim 2010 Subway AUS Women’s Volleyball Crown
Smit named Keith’s MVP in three set victory
In the championship game of the 2010 Subway AUS Women’s Volleyball Championship, the host Saint Mary’s Huskies defeated the first place StFX X-Women in straight sets (25-12, 25-19, 25-14) to capture their fifth AUS banner in front of over 500 fans Sunday afternoon at the Tower in Halifax.

2009-10 AUS Women's Volleyball All-Stars Announced
SMU's Smit and Beaver Named First Team All-Stars
(February 17, 2010) HALIFAX, NS - Atlantic University Sport is pleased to announce the 2009-10 women's volleyball all-star teams as selected by the conference's head coaches following regular season play.

The Saint Mary's Huskies, UNB Varsity Reds and Cape Breton Capers each had two players named to the first team to account for six of the seven spots, with Catherine Thornton of the first place StFX X-Women rounding out the squad. Last year's AUS Most Valuable Player Kerri Smit of Saint Mary's is a first team all-star for the second year in a row, as is UNB's Jillian Blanchard.

Beaver, Smit lead Huskies past Capers

Alison Beaver notched 16 kills and Kerri Smit added a dozen as the Saint Mary’s Huskies swept past the Cape Breton Capers 3-0 in the regular-season finale of the AUS women’s volleyball league Sunday afternoon at The Tower.

Canada Games coach named Head Coach of Huskies volleyball team

One of the leading volleyball coaches in the Atlantic region is now the head coach of the women’s volleyball team at Saint Mary’s University.

The Huskies today announced the appointment of Darren Russell as the new head coach of the women’s program.

2009 Summer Universiade
Canada’s women’s volleyball roster announced
SMU’s Smit named to Universiade team
Saint Mary’s Huskies outside hitter Kerri Smit has been named to the Canadian women’s volleyball team that will compete next month at the Summer Universiade in Belgrade, Serbia.

Smit, from Shubenacadie, was a second-team all-Canadian and the MVP of the AUS women’s league in her second year at the Halifax university. Smit led the conference in scoring (5.48 points per game) and kills (4.71 per game) and finished third with 29 aces.

Senior Women’s National Team A & B Rosters Announced
Kerri Smit, named to A/B Roster
After an intensive Selection Camp held this week at the Team Canada Women's Volleyball Centre in Winnipeg, Volleyball Canada is happy to announce the Senior Women’s Indoor A & B National Team athletes for the 2009 international volleyball season. This year’s teams are comprised of a combination of young veterans and new athletes possessing potential to lead Canada to berths in the 2010 World Championships and 2012 Olympic Games in London.

FREDERICTON (CIS) – For the second straight season, fourth-year Montreal power hitter Laetitia Tchoualack of Paris, France, is the Canadian Interuniversity Sport women’s volleyball player of the year.

Women's Volleyball Major Awards Announced
SMU's Kerri Smit named League MVP
February 12, 2009 (HALIFAX, NS) - Atlantic University Sport is pleased to announce the 2008-09 women's volleyball major award winners as selected by the Atlantic conference head coaches.

Second year outside hitter Kerri Smit (Shubenacadie, NS) of the Saint Mary's Huskies has been named the Atlantic University Sport Most Valuable Player.
