Huskies Men's Hockey welcome forward Thomas Casey

Saint Mary's men's hockey head coach Tyler Naugler is pleased to announce the addition of forward Thomas Casey to the Huskies line-up for the 2023-24 season.

A 5'9" forward from Charlottetown, P.E.I., Casey will be transferring to Saint Mary's after spending the past two seasons with the University of New Brunswick REDS, where he won back-to-back AUS Championships.

Casey had an outstanding junior career in the QMJHL, posting 167 points (80 goals, 87 assists) in 209 games over four seasons with the Charlottetown Islanders. He was named an assistant captain for the Islanders in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

In the 2020-21 season, Casey posted a career high 74 points (34 goals, 40 assists) in just 38 games played, and was named a QMJHL Second Team All-Star.

"We are thrilled to add an experienced offensive player in Thomas Casey to our team," says Huskies head coach Tyler Naugler. "Thomas was a prolific goal scorer in the QMJHL, and will add speed and offensive skill to our lineup."

"I am thrilled to be a Husky!" said Casey. "The Huskies Hockey Program, Sobey School of Business and City of Halifax all seem like the perfect fit and I am looking forward to hitting the ice in September."

A two-time Academic All-Canadian, Casey will be studying a Master of Business Administration at Saint Mary's Sobey School of Business. He is the second commitment announced to the Huskies 2023-24 recruiting class, joining forward Ben Allison.

The Huskies finished second in the AUS in 2022-23 with a 26-13-2 overall record, reaching the AUS final and qualifying for the U CUP Nationals.
