MONCTON, NB - The Saint Mary's Huskies season came to an end, as the Moncton Aigles Bleus scored three third period goals to defeat the Huskies 5-3 in game five of the Atlantic University Sport men's hockey semifinal on Thursday night at J. Louis-Levesque Arena in Moncton, N.B.
The Aigles Bleus took an early 2-0 lead, off a pair of first period goals from forwards Antoine Roy and Jeremy Michel.
The two teams each recorded 12 shots on goal in the opening period, but the Aigles Bleus took a 2-0 lead into second intermission.
The Huskies came out motivated in the second period and quickly answered, with captain Declan McDonnell (Buffalo, NY) scored off assists from Jake Uberti (Toronto, ON) and Ben Boyd (Dartmouth, NS), cutting the score to 2-1, 1:12 into the second period.
Saint Mary's tied it up and took the lead several minutes later, thanks to the continued scoring heroics of forward Nathan Dunkley (Campbellford, ON).
First, Dunkley stole the puck from a Moncton defender in the neutral zone and skated in on a partial breakaway, faking a pass before snapping a shot past Aigles Bleus goaltender Nathan Darveau to tie the game at 2-2, 8:16 into the second period.

Just over two minutes later, Dunkley struck again to put the Huskies in front. With the Aigles Bleus on the powerplay, Dunkley and linemate Derek Gentile (Sydney, NS) broke out on a two-on-one, playing a perfect give-and-go leading to Dunkley firing a high shot over Darveau's glove to give Saint Mary's a 3-2 lead, 10:32 into the second period.

The Huskies outshot the Aigles Bleus 9-7 in the second period, and took a 3-2 lead into intermission.
Unfortunately the banged-up Huskies ran out of steam in the third period, and Moncton scored three unanswered goals to win it.
Natheal Roy tied it up at 1:05, Remy Anglehart took the lead at 4:00, and Jeremy Michel iced the game with an empty net goal, his second of the game, as the Aigles Bleus held on for the 5-3 win.
The Huskies outshot the Aigles Bleus 33-32 on the night, with Nathan Darveau stopping 30 shots for the win, while Justin Sumarah made 27 stops in the loss.
