Women's basketball welcomes Jasmine Cain

The Saint Mary's Huskies Women's basketball Team is pleased to announce their second commitment for 2016. Jasmine Cain of Halifax, has committed to attend Saint Mary's University in the fall. Jasmine is currently a member of the Citadel High School Phoenix, the defending Nova Scotia provincial champions. Cain was a Metro-All Star in 2014-15 during her grade 11 year. She has also garnered all-stars at several tournaments throughout the region this year.

Cain has been a key member of Basketball Nova Scotia Provincial Teams over the past 4 summers as well. Cain was a member of the Nova Scotia Under 15 Team which captured a Bronze at the 2013 National Championships and a key member of the Nova Scotia Under 17 teams at the 2014 and 2015 National Championship Tournament, while playing for Head Coach Scott Munro.

"We are extremely excited to have Jasmine (Jazzy) join our program. She is a very solid competitor who does a bit of everything in a basketball game. She can defend top perimeter players as well as score the ball in different ways. She is also an excellent passer with a very high basketball IQ. I am very familiar with her abilities as a player and as a person. She will be a great fit in our program."

Jasmine will join her sister Angelina Carvery with the Huskies next year, who will be entering her final year of eligibility. "I'm proud to be attending Saint Mary's University in September and become part of the Women's Basketball Program. Playing alongside my sister is something I can't wait to experience. I feel this will be a great fit for me from having played for Coach Munro since I was 15. This is a good opportunity and I'm happy to have sealed the deal," said Cain.

Cain will enroll in the Faculty of Arts in September.
