Cara Freeman named 2024 AUS Women's Soccer First Team All-Star

The 2024 Atlantic University Sport women's soccer awards were announced on Wednesday, with Saint Mary's Huskies forward Cara Freeman being named a 2024 AUS First Team All-Star.

A second year science student from Halifax, N.S., Freeman started in all 12 regular season games for the Huskies. She led the team in scoring with 10 points (fourth in the AUS), five goals (tied for fifth) and five assists (tied for third). Freeman was named Player of the Match twice, and Saint Mary's Female Athlete of the Week twice throughout the season.

This marks the second straight season that Freeman has been selected as an AUS All-Star. In 2023, she was selected as a Second Team AUS All-Star, as well as becoming the first Saint Mary's women's soccer player to win AUS Rookie of the Year, and was also selected to the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team. 

The Huskies finished the 2024 season with a 4-6-2 record, finishing seventh place in the conference and narrowly missing the AUS Championship Playoff.
