Huskies Volleyball announce commitment of Katie MacLean to lineup for 2026-27 season
Saint Mary's women's volleyball head coach Darren Russell is pleased to announce the commitment of setter Katie MacLean to the Huskies line-up for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
A 5'7" setter from Moncton, New Brunswick, MacLean will be joining the Huskies as a graduate transfer from the Acadia Axewomen.
"I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to play my final year at such a succesful program, while pursuing a Masters of Applied Health Services Research to further my education," says MacLean. "Competing in U SPORTS volleyball is truly a gift, and I don't take this experience for granted. I'm excited to build new relationships with my teammates, coaches and the broader Saint Mary's community, while also getting involved in meaningful research."
This past season, MacLean led the AUS with 640 assists, and ranked third with 8.21 assists per set. Over four seasons with the Axewomen, MacLean appeared in 80 regular season matches, recording 1338 assists, 356 digs and 63 service aces, and helping lead the team to an AUS Championship in 2023-24.
A four-time Academic All-Canadian, MacLean will be studying a Masters of Applied Health Service Research - Professional Stream at Saint Mary's, having graduated in four years with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Chemistry. Katie's father Randolph MacLean is a Saint Mary's alumnus.
