Gentile and MacLean named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Oct. 21-27, 2024

Men's hockey forward Derek Gentile and Women's hockey forward Kara MacLean have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week ending October 27, 2024.

Derek Gentile, a fourth year forward from Sydney, NS, is the Huskies male athlete of the week for the week of Oct. 21-27, 2024.

Gentile scored three points across a pair of games this week. Gentile scored a pair of goals in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Acadia Axemen and added an assist in Friday's 3-1 loss to the UPEI Panthers.

On the season, Gentile leads the Huskies and ranks fourth in the AUS with 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) through eight games played.

Kara MacLean / Women's Hockey / Antigonish, NS / 4th year / Science

Kara MacLean a fourth year forward from Antigonish, NS, is the Huskies female athlete of the week for the week of Oct. 21-27, 2024.

MacLean was named Player of the Game in Saturday's 2-1 win over the UPEI Panthers, scoring the shootout winning goal and adding an assist.

On the season, MacLean ranks third on the Huskies with five points (three goals, two assists).
