Brown and Freeman named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Sept. 1-7, 2025

Football defensive lineman Jahmari Brown and women's soccer forward Cara Freeman have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week ending September 7, 2025.

Jahmari Brown, a third year defensive lineman from Oshawa, ON, is the Huskies male athlete of the week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Sept. 1-7, 2025.

Brown was named Player of the Game in the Huskies 33-7 win over the Bishop's Gaiters on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Brown led a dominant defensive performance with two tackles, two sacks for a combined 12 yards loss, and one forced fumble.

Through three games played this season, Brown leads the AUS in sacks (3.0), tackles for loss (4.0) and forced fumbles (one).

The Huskies will be off on bye this weekend, before hitting the road to Antigonish, NS to take on the STFX X-Men on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 2 p.m.

Cara Freeman / Women's Soccer / Halifax, NS / 3rd year / Science

Cara Freeman, a third year forward from Halifax, NS, is the Huskies female athlete of the week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Sept. 1-7, 2025.

Over a pair of games this weekend, Freeman scored three goals, and has now scored in each of the Huskies four games this season.

In Friday's 4-4 draw against the STFX X-Women, Freeman scored the Huskies first two goals of the game, recording a match-high five shots on goal and playing the full 90 minutes.

In Sunday's 1-0 win over the Moncton Aigles Bleues, Freeman scored the game-winning goal, recording a match-high three shots on goal and playing the full 90 minutes.

Through the first four games of the season, Freeman ranks second in the AUS in goals (5), points (7) and leads the league in shots (17) and shots on goal (14).

The Huskies will be on the road next weekend, visiting the Cape Breton Capers on Friday, Sept. 12, and the Dalhousie Tigers on Sunday, Sept. 14.
