Valade's late winner beats Tigers 3-2, Huskies remain undefeated
HALIFAX, NS - Saint Mary's forward Reid Valade scored the game-winning goal with 41 seconds remaining in the third period, lifting the Huskies to a 3-2 win over the Dalhousie Tigers on Saturday night at the Halifax Forum.
The Huskies hit the scoreboard first, as Reid Valade (Caledon, ON) skated into Tigers territory and dropped a pass for limemate Charlie Da Fonseca (Thornhill, ON) who snapped a shot that was saved by Tigers netminder Carter Richardson, but Ben Allison (Halifax, NS) jumped on the rebound to bury his seventh goal of the campaign - tying him with Valade for the league-lead - and giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead 6:17 into the first period.

First forward Ethan Wongus was able to snap a shot past Marcus Vandenberg (Dorchester, ON) cutting the Huskies lead to 2-1 with 4:14 remaining in the third.
With less than two minutes remaining, the Tigers found themselves shorthanded, but pulled Richardson and were rewarded - after Reid Valade broke his stick on a empty net chance, the Tigers took advantage of the opportunity - Ethan Martini unleashed a one-timer from the point that was turned away by Vandenberg, but the rebound ricocheted to forward Zak Smith, who made no mistake, tying the game at 2-2 with 1:24 left in regulation.
But the top scoring line in the AUS could not be denied, as Allison collected a pass and dropped a nifty pass off to Valade, who fired a rocket wrist shot blocker side on Richardson, giving the Huskies the 3-2 victory.
